Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who can share in that passion.

We have 20 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills and Wainuiomata. About Stokes Valley Kindergarten

The team at Stokes Valley Kindergarten is passionate about providing learning experiences that focus on the interests and needs of tamariki. The child certainly is ‘the heart of the matter’ at our kindergarten. Our beautiful outdoor area has numerous gardens, and is complemented by a spacious and well-resourced indoor play area.

We are inspired by innovative learning spaces and strive to develop experiences alongside children that are filled with curiosity and wonder. Tamariki are encouraged to lead their own learning here and the team is committed to providing ongoing learning experiences that reflect children’s interest through play.

​The position

We are looking for an energetic and dedicated part-time teacher to join the team at Stokes Valley Kindergarten. This is a permanent, part-time role where you'll be supporting the team with lunch cover, Head Teacher release time and assessments.  As a valued team member, you'll also be involved in weekly team meetings.

You will be working 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday (11 hours of contact and 5 hours of non-contact time).  Your weekly schedule is:

Monday: 11.30am - 4.00pm                                                                                                            Tuesday:  11.30am - 1.00pm                                                                                                            Wednesday:  8.00am - 3.30pm                                                                                                      Thursday:  11.30am - 1.00pm                                                                                                           Friday:  11.30am - 1.00pm

 To be successful in this role, you will need to:

·         have a solid knowledge understanding of Te Whāriki

·         be a reliable, trustworthy and flexible team player, with a "can do" attitude

·         value and celebrate each child’s unique personality

·         be able to work in partnership with whānau and the community.

Tamariki will benefit from having another teacher who will bring their own unique skills and interests to the kindergarten and you will love working with a small team of experienced and passionate professionals.

Applying for this role

Applicants must hold a:

  • Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)

  • Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand

  • Current first aid certificate.

We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks annual leave and paid professional time during term breaks.
