About Nettie Riley Kindergarten
Nettie Riley Kindergarten is located on Witako Street in central Lower Hutt. We offer an all-day, all-year service for 2-5 year olds. This is a great option for families who value the kindergarten teaching philosophy and require a longer day service.
As an all year service, the kindergarten remains open during the term breaks, with a two-week closure period over Christmas/New Year and on public holidays.
The kindergarten is on the ground level of the newly built Hutt Valley Heath Hub with a spacious outdoor area that wraps around the building, providing a variety of spaces for tamariki to explore, learn and play. We are dedicated to providing the best education for tamariki with a 100% qualified and experienced teaching team.
The position
We are looking for an Assistant Teacher who will add their energy and enthusiasm to our existing team. The position does not require any formal teaching qualification, but previous experience working with preschool children will be a big advantage.
Our Assistant Teachers work closely with tamariki, assist the Teachers with the learning programme, build positive working relationships with whānau, prepare resources and complete some housekeeping duties.
The day is spent engaging with children, so you won't be doing any paperwork or assessments. This is a stimulating role where there is constant interaction with tamariki, staff and whānau.
To be successful at Nettie Riley, you will need:
the willingness to learn and develop your natural ability to engage with children
to be available to work between 7.30am and 5pm if required
to have passion for supporting our tamariki and whānau
lots of empathy, tolerance and patience
to be a flexible team player, with a "can do" attitude and a proactive mindset
a great sense of humour!
Working at Nettie Riley Kindergarten will allow you to:
take most of your 4 weeks’ annual leave at times that suit you
experience regular high-quality professional development opportunities
enjoy free, all-day off-street parking
be part of a team of professionals focused on providing the best learning outcomes for tamariki.
