Marketing and Communications Manager

  • We're seeking an experienced marketing professional who combines creativity with attention to detail

  • Part-time (15 hours per week), based at our Head Office in Epuni, Lower Hutt

  • You'll be working to ensure our brand is well-known, respected and the first choice for whānau looking for early childhood education throughout the Hutt Valley.

Who are we?

Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who share that passion.

We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 20 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills and Wainuiomata. We are proud to be an integral part of our local community and celebrate our cultural diversity and identity.

About the Marketing and Comms Manager role

We're looking for that special someone who can develop and achieve the Association's marketing plan and promote our kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley. 

Ensuring our rolls are full by using effective marketing strategies is a key purpose of this position, along with creating and delivering effective internal communications to our staff.

Our ideal candidate is:

  • enthusiastic, talented, with proven experience working in a marketing and/or communications role

  • a natural communicator and networker, who sees opportunities to promote and enhance our brand

  • able to use their creative writing flair to create content that will increase engagement, provide information and entice visitors to our website

  • excited to plan and deliver community engagement events at locations throughout the Hutt Valley

  • experienced in writing articles for publication in local media.

Candidates must also have:

  • a marketing/communications tertiary qualification

  • at least two years relevant work experience

  • a valid and full New Zealand driver license

  • the legal right to work in New Zealand.

You'll be a step ahead of the rest if you have:

  • previous experience using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Light Room, Google Forms and Rocketspark

  • Some Te Reo written communication skills

  • previous experience or knowledge of HCK and our philosophy.
