Who are we?

Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who can share in that passion.

We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 20 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills and Wainuiomata. About Holborn Kindergarten

Tamariki come to Holborn Kindergarten from all areas of Stokes Valley.

We foster a culture where respect, positive social competencies, inclusion, fun and joy for learning are encouraged. We provide experiences that will enrich tamariki's lives and give them the knowledge, skills and disposition they need to tackle new challenges. 

We work in partnership with whānau and hold annual events that are well-supported by our community.

​The position

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed part-time teacher to join the team at Holborn Kindergarten. This is a permanent, part-time role where you'll be supporting the team with lunch cover, Head Teacher release time and assessments.  As a valued team member, you'll also be involved in weekly team meetings.

You will be working 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  Aside from the lunch cover hours (11.30am  -1.00pm), there is some flexibility to set your own work schedule.  

 To be successful in this role, you will need to:

·         have a solid knowledge understanding of Te Whāriki

·         be a reliable, trustworthy and flexible team player, with a positive attitude

·         value and celebrate each child’s unique personality

·         be able to work in partnership with whānau and the community.

Applying for this role

Applicants must hold a:

  • Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary) qualification 

  • Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand

  • Current first aid certificate.

We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks annual leave and paid professional time during term breaks.
