Who are we?

Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who share that passion.

We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 20 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hill and Wainuiomata. About Dyer Street Kindergarten

The team at Dyer Street Kindergarten are passionate about creating a warm, respectful environment which actively supports children’s exploration. We nurture a sense of wonder and joyfulness in tamariki, encouraging them to make their own learning discoveries through focusing on their interests, while having fun.

Our large open outdoor area allows space for active movement and is complemented by a spacious and well-resourced indoor play area which supports the development of the whole child - cognitively, emotionally, physically, socially and culturally. We are a friendly teaching team who is committed to developing relationships with our children, family/whanau and the wider community.

​The position

We are looking for a qualified, energetic and enthusiastic Teacher who would love to work at Dyer Street Kindergarten.   Our teachers are passionate about providing learning opportunities that encourage curiosity and wonder - are you excited to bring your own skills, talents and experiences into our team?

Working at Dyer Street Kindergarten will allow you to:

·         experience regular high-quality professional development opportunities

·         complete a robust induction process, led by an HCK Senior Teacher

·         receive first aid recertification and annual flu vaccinations funded by the Association.

To be successful at Dyer Street Kindergarten, you will need to:

·         have a solid understanding of Te Whāriki

·         be a flexible, supportive team player, with a "can do" attitude 

·         value and celebrate each child’s unique personality

·         be able to work in partnership with whānau and the community.

Applicants must hold a:

  • Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)

  • Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand

  • Current First Aid certificate.

You must also have the legal right to work in New Zealand before applying for this vacancy.

We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks’ annual leave and paid professional time during term breaks.
